Hungry Club Forum

For many years, the Butler Street YMCA has served as the hub of community activities in Atlanta, particularly those related to the Black community. The Butler Street YMCA started Atlanta's first city-wide forum, the Hungry Club Forum, in 1945. This was the first meeting place for Blacks and Whites in Atlanta on Human Relations consideration.

The Hungry Club Forum meets twice monthly and has become one of America's outstanding public affairs programs. Its motto is "Food for Taste and Food for Thought for Those Who Hunger for Information And Association." Speakers include persons in the local, national and international arenas in the areas of business, politics, social services, community relations and civil rights, among others.

The Hungry Club Forum functions solely on charitable donations from members of Butler Street YMCA and citizens who come to enjoy our speakers. The Hungry Club Forum meets every other Wednesday, October thru May at 11:30 a.m., at the J. D. Winston Branch of the Butler Street YMCA. A single event ticket is $15.00 at the door and covers the cost of lunch.
