What is the Butler Street YMCA Residence Program?
The BSYMCA Residence Program is a temporary housing facility that rents rooms to men at least 18 years of age.

Is this a homeless shelter?
This is not a homeless shelter. The BSYMCA Residence Program is classified as a temporary transitional housing program for self-sufficient, independent males.

Who is it for?
The BSYMCA Residence Program serves men only.

Can I make reservations?
Rrooms are generally rented on a first come first serve basis.

How long can I stay?
Residence can stay at the BSYMCA as long as the rent is current and there are no conduct problems with other tenants or the staff.

How do I qualify to stay at the BSYMCA?
Residents must be 18 years or older with two forms of ID (one form of identification must include a picture), become a member of the wellness facility and keep his rent current.

What is the rental rate?
The first day the tenant must pay $18.12 for daily rent, $10.00 key deposit, and $3.00 for wellness facility membership. The total first day rent is $31.12. Each additional day is $18.12. After 90 days, the daily rent drops to $15.90 (the tenant is considered long term according to state regulations, therefore taxes are not applied for daily rent). What is the membership fee for?
The membership fee is for access to the wellness center and cyber center.

Who has to pay the membership fee?
All tenants must pay the membership fee.

When is the rent due?
The rent is due before check out time, which is 12 p.m. If the rent is not paid before check out another day of rent is accrued. Caution, tenants who are delinquent with the rent may be subject to lockout or eviction.

When is check out?
Check out is 12:00 p.m. everyday.

Is the key deposit refundable?
Yes, if the tenant checks out before 12:00 p.m. the day after the initial rental, the key deposit will be refunded.

Can I smoke in the room?
Rooms located the third and fourth floors are designated for smokers. Tenants are asked not to smoke in bed, because this is a fire hazard.

How often are the rooms cleaned?
Rooms are cleaned once a week with a change of linen and towels.

Is there a curfew?
Tenants have 24-hour access to the building, however the front door will be locked at 2 a.m. After 2 a.m. the desk clerk will have to open the door for the tenants. The parking lot gate is locked at 12:00 a.m. and unlocked at 6:00 a.m.

Can I have guests?
Guest are limited to the lobby. If a tenant has a guest in his room, he will be asked to leave.

Can I share a room with someone else?
Tenants cannot share a room. Violation of this rule will be grounds for eviction.

How safe is the room and who has access to the room?
All rooms are secured by a lock and key. Maintenance and front desk personnel have access to room for cleaning, lock-outs and other emergencies that may occur.

Where can I make telephone calls?
There are no public telephones on the premise available to the tenants. All phone calls must be made off the premises unless the tenant has access to a cellular phone. Tenants may have a phone installed in the room at the tenant's expense.

Is there a dress code?
All tenants must be appropriately dressed when leaving their room for any reason. Appropriately dress means that the tenant have the minimum of a shirt, pants and some slippers (flip flops) on their feet.

There is a laundry facility for residents on the third floor.
